Tuesday Talks: Breaking Up Your Reading Schedule

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!

Tuesday Talks is an wonderful group on Goodreads that is a weekly discussion forum created by BookTubers Janie Johnson and her pal, Janelle. It is a fun and active group to be a part of.

Unfortunately this group's weekly topic, entitled Tuesaday Talks, ended in 2017. I would like to carry on this tradition by posing my own questions, as well as stepping back in time to answer those weeks that I did not from the group.

This week's question is: How Do You Break Up Your Reading Schedule?

When it comes to reading I love to plan out what I want to read. As always this is sometime futile since new books are always arriving, and life sometimes tends to take time away from reading. But a way that helps with my reading schedule is to add some fun reads into the mix. Whether they are children's storybooks, children's chapter books, or middle grade reads, they serve to break up the heaviness of your reading. When I say "heaviness" I am personally referring to my habit of reading bloody horror, crime, mystery, and science fiction, which to me can sometimes weigh down my emotions as I get invested in their stories.

Just recently I read and reviewed Burnt Offerings by Robert Marasco and Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary. To offset the horror of one novel I read a fun book from my childhood. I find that this makes reading a lot of fun and diversifies my reading atmosphere. And I tend to read more books as I do this. I even read some reference guides to Star Wars as research for my Character Profiles. I feel better about my reading and feel I accomplish more when I stagger genres while reading.

How do you break up your reading schedule. Please let me know in the comment box below.

Have fun reading this week. Let me know in the comments below what you are reading.
