Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!       I have read a lot of amazing books that I have reviewed here. I decided that to recommend novels to you from my favorite authors, I would gather my reviews together with their reviews linked to their book covers.   (c) Author photo copyright Deborah Feingold  Lisa Gardner is one of the best Crime Thriller authors out there on the shelves today. I have not read a Lisa Gardner series that I did not love. And her unique blend of family drama, suspense, and often horror combines to deliver twisty novels with explosive endings!  Take a break and peruse my reviews. Maybe I will inspire you to discover a new favorite book. Have fun!   Updated May 28, 2020 Detective D.D. Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!        Forward into May I went. No BookCon to attend. No BookExpo. Conventions canceled. With a sigh and a fully stocked TBR bookcase, I ventured out to read! And.... read three books. But, they were fun and thrilling and I am happy I took my time with them. Sometimes it is the quality of the read, not quantity that matters.     Books I read in May (available reviews linked): The Survivor's Club by Lisa Gardner Murder in an Irish Cottage by Carlene O'Connor When I Was You by Minka Kent   Favorite Book of the Month: Here is my ongoing TBR : Good Girls Lie by J.T. Book Review: The Survivor's Club by Lisa Gardner

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!    Lisa Gardner has always managed to get me excited about her latest novels. But discovering past novels from a favorite author that I have yet to experience can be just as exciting as any new book. Enter 2002 and Gardner's stand-alone, The Survivor's Club. Detective Roan Griffin was introduced to me in Gardner's thriller, Catch Me . He played a minor role, but from what I gathered after reading his part, I knew I wanted more of this dynamic character.      The Survivor's Club is written by Lisa Gardner and it is published by Bantam Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House. In this suspenseful tale, we are introduced to Detective Sergeant Roan Griffin. Losing his wife to cancer and breaking down after his apprehension of the child killer, The Candyman, Griffin is a damaged man. He has spent some time off the force and has slowly regained his sanity and hea

Book Review: When I Was You by Minka Kent

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!     Let us face it. I am addicted to reading thrillers. It is a genre that I love with every fiber of my being. I am always looking for new-to-me authors that can fuel the flames of non-stop page-turning. Recently (with the aid of a few glasses of wine) I went on a spending spree looking for new books that I can enjoy. Minka Kent popped up many times as a recommended author. I purchased several of her thrillers and started off with When I Was You. I never thought that this book would go in the direction it did. When I was finished, I was pleasantly surprised.   When I Was You is written by Minka Kent and is published by Thomas & Mercer, an Amazon imprint. In this crazy ride of a book, we are introduced to Brienne Dougray. After being brutally attacked outside of her office one night, she has since become a recluse in her family's sprawling home. Her only contact is with the next-door neighbor, Enid, who is about the

Book Review Buzz Words

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!     I am the type of reader that loves buzz words. Haha, who am I kidding, I choose books with pretty covers, as well. The buzz words that I look for in a book are: 1.                 First-time author (I love the feeling of discovering new authors) 2.               New series (a new series from a favorite author is filled with possibilities. If I have enjoyed a past series from an author, then I will definitely buy the first book of a new series) 3.               New York Times Best-Selling (yes, guilty as charged. If I see this on a book's cover I will automatically want to read it. I figure if they are on that best-seller list, then they must be awesome) 4.                 Recommendation blurbs from famous authors (I purchased a book last year that Stephen King had recommended, called Shadows of the Wind by Carlos Ruis Zafon) 5.                  If you liked... (This one does not always work out for the best,
