Top 5 Wednesday: What Bookish Things Are You a Grinch About?

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons !   Top 5 Wednesday is a Goodreads Book Club that meets weekly to answer questions presented.  Our moderators are YouTubers, Lainey (GingerReadsLainey) and Samantha (ThoughtsOnTomes). I enjoy how every week this group brings the book community together. Great fun!   This week's question asks: What bookish things are you a Grinch about?     There are many things that I can be a Grinch about when picking up a book to read. Here are some fun things that can make my heart 2 sizes too small:   Bookmarks that mysteriously disappear- this usually occurs when I have a new bookmark. I am reading, and when I reach for my bookmark I cannot find it. I search high and low, but to no avail. It is lost. I solemnly choose a new marker and continue with my book. Several months later while I am house cleaning I find it in an odd location (the last place I found a book mark was in a potted plant).   Forgetting...

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   Wow! This has been a busy month! I have traveled a lot, read a lot, and have been enjoying running my new store on eBay.  It seems that July flew by, leaving me wondering what did I read? Rowling Star Wars: Aftermath- Life Debt by Chuck Wendig Shockaholic by Carrie Fisher I am hoping to get a lot more reading in for the month of August. I am also getting ready to release my 2016/2017 Reading Challenge. I will be releasing a blank and filled in version of this challenge, so that you may participate, as well. How did you do in July with re...

The Ten Types of People That You Meet at a Book Fair

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,   If you have been to a book fair, then you know that there are several different types people who attend the event. I was in attendance at both the Newtown and New Milford Book Fairs this past week in Connecticut. I love book fairs, because they bring readers together, and often use their proceeds for charitable organizations, such as libraries.  I had a lot of fun perusing the tables, and speaking with the patrons. While I was there I met the following: The Book Collector- this patron of the book fair is out to claim the most pristine condition hardcovers that can get their hands on. They will often set them neatly in large rolling bags or wagons. They constantly shudder if someone even touches their bag or coughs in the books' direction. They are readers who are often buy multiple versions of their favorite reads, such as UK editions or foreign language editions. They are often fountains of trivia of book varia...

New Year's Reading Resolutions: How I Have Done Thus Far

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons<    Here we are at the middle of the year, and I thought that it would be a great idea to see how I did with my New Year's Reading Resolutions.    On  December 30, 2015 I released an article explaining my hopes for reading in 2016. As of this reading I have read 33 books and have four books currently being read. I have had major slumps that sometimes crippled my ability to pick up a book. But with some shorter books, audio book presentations, and even reading to others, I have overcome this road block. Here is a comparison of goals to actual events of 2016 (actualities are in parenthesis): Take seven books that I began and never finished out of my bookcase: (This is what I am currently doing, but with four novels rather than seven.  All four are reads I began and never finished. I picked four very different books, that way I can switch between the stories and enjoy them better. I read 60 pages a day e...

Tuesday Talks: Do You Read Strictly for Enjoyment?

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,    Tuesday Talks is an awesome group on Goodreads that is a weekly discussion forum created by BookTubers Janie Johnson and her pal, Janelle. It is a fun and active group in the book community to be a part of.   This week's question is: Do you read strictly for enjoyment ?            Reading for me is first and foremost for enjoyment for me. I love buying books and comics and surrounding myself with piles of narrative to occupy my hungry brain. I can use a whole day to read. I love reading curled up in bed, outside under a tree, or on a long bus ride. Reading fulfills my creative side, my wishes that I can do things that humans cannot, and my wanderlust, to name a few. Reading enriches my mind. Reading teaches me information. R eading i n spires me.   I have recently began to push aside things in my life that have been wasteful to me. I have replaced these things with reading...
