Writing a Novel...Be Back Soon...

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,    When it comes to my blog, I am happy to share my thoughts about books. Writing book reviews is always a fun activity of mine. But every now and then I have to step back from my blog to make progress on my own novel .   Since 2019, I have been hard at work crafting my debut novel. It has been a wonderful and often scary experience, but I am excited for all of you to read it. I have begun the ending of the novel. It has been an enlightening experience to read other thrillers and see how some of their endings are either rushed or fall apart. I am doing my best to deliver to readers an exciting and satisfying finale.    In the meantime, please peruse my past blog posts and reviews and enjoy my recommendations. This blog has been with me since 2015 and is also a labor of love.   More to come!      Let me know in the comments below what you are reading.     If you wish to donate to my publishing fund at Venmo. In Memory: William Peter Blatty

Image
H ello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   When an author dies a reader feels that some part of them also passes. Whether it is because the reader may never experience a new story or novel from their favorite author. Or because the author may have had a great impact on how they live their life. For many, it can be the memory of cracking open that latest novel that may give them a shiver of happy memories.    In 2023 many great people have passed that have worked in the book industry or the film industry who brought those books to life (including William Friedkin). In 2017 we lost the author of the author of The Exorcist.   When I discovered that William Peter Blatty had passed away at the age of 89. I sat for a moment and processed this information. The Exorcist will always be my all-time favorite novel. I have read this book four times in my lifetime, and had began an annual Halloween reading tradition in 2015.    What makes this novel a jewel in my reading crown is not that i

Reading Habits: Reading Outside Your Normal Genre

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,     Reading outside of my usual genre of mystery and science fiction happens on occasion. When I go for something different I look for historical fiction or middle-grade books to read. A lot of middle-grade books offer contemporary stories and family-driven comedies that help a great deal with reading slumps, as well. I purchased a lot of Beverly Cleary books recently not only as nostalgia but to help break up my reading schedule. I never tire of reading middle grade. Historical fiction, I find, can be a great alternative when choosing a different genre, I enjoy the mix of history, drama, and sweeping stories. Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell covers this in a grand way. I plan on re-reading that novel since it's been at least 25 years since I read it the first time.    When you think about it, reading outside of your genre is often a good idea.      Let me know in the comments below what you are reading.     If you wish to donate

From Page to Screen: Animated Feature of Your Favorite Book

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,     The Adventures of Johnny Dixon and Lewis Barnavelt by John Bellair would be awesome as animated movies. With animation, more of the fantastic elements of the stories could be introduced. The style of animation for this would be computer-generated, like Frozen. Plus actors that would not normally fit the roles could use their voice talents.    As an adult, I love to read middle-grade books. I get so excited when Scholastic has their book fairs that I can attend, so that I may add to my middle-grade collection. The fun thing about Johnny Dixon and Lewis Barnavelt is that they are children thrust into scary, and often terrifying paranormal experiences. John Bellairs has a wonderful way of creeping out his readers. And readers of Goosebumps or Fear Street would enjoy these books coming to life.     The live-action House with a Clock in Its Walls did very well. I can just imagine how popular an animated adaption of the series would be.      L
