Nostalgia Base- Star Wars: The New Trilogy- My Ten Observations

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,   I will first start by saying that I enjoyed the Rise of Skywalker. I felt it fixed many issues from the Force Awakens and Last Jedi and gave the fans a satisfying end to the Skywalker Saga. But if viewers were not readers of the other Star Wars media, such as comics and books, the Rise of Skywalker may have been confusing. From Palpatine's return to the Force Dyad, there was a lot to unpack, and not a lot of explanations to back up the many questions that surfaced.   I wanted to share with my readers my thoughts on the entire new trilogy before I read the expanded novel by Rae Carson. Remember, these are my opinions and are not meant to tell you how to enjoy your fandom.  Here are ten observations I came away from the new trilogy with: 1. Captain Phasma- she was a cool character that was vastly underused in the films. Her armor's capability, training, and even escape from Stark...

Feel Good Books: The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   I am often asked what book left me smiling ear to ear and delivered all the feels. Look no further than Carrie Fisher for that.     Tenacity. Bravery. Strength.     This is how I describe Carrie Fisher to people as I explain to them the significance that she has played in my life. As someone who has dealt with depression for many years, it had always been refreshing to see someone as famous as Carrie Fisher tell her tale of depression and substance abuse as candidly as she had. She proved to those diminished by their inner demons that they could also emerge triumphantly. With her bestselling memoirs Wishful Drinking and Shokaholic , Fisher laid bare her pain, frustration, and hopes to her readers. She even took Wishful Drinking on the road as a one-woman show from 2006 to 2010. This became a hilarious HBO special that was viewed by millions. Every joke. Every word. Every emotion that Carrie...

Carrie Fisher: My Reviews

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   For many years before her untimely death, Carrie Fisher was a beacon of hope and understanding for those in the world struggling with addiction and depression. Upon her passing (and that of her mother, Debbie Reynolds), the world realized with an aching heart just what they had lost.    Carrie Fisher was straight-forward about her struggles. She told her stories to give the world a chance to relax and realize that they were not alone. Three years after she became one with the Force, we will see her final performance in Star Wars Episode IX: the Rise of Skywalker. With painstaking reconstruction of footage from her Star Wars film history, we will see her once again on the big screen.      Carrie was also an accomplished Hollywood writer and author. Her work was featured on the Academy Awards, as well as in books such as Postcards from the Edge. But her one-woman show, Wishful Drinking bro...
