Top 5 Wednesday: Books That You Will Never Read

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons !   Top 5 Wednesday is a Goodreads Book Club that meets weekly to answer questions presented.  Our moderators are YouTubers, Lainey (GingerReadsLainey) and Samantha (ThoughtsOnTomes). I enjoy how every week this group brings the book community together. Great fun!   This week's question asks: What are your Top 5 b ooks that you will never read ? Fifty Shades of Gray Series by E.L. James - this is a series I tried because of the hype. But I found the writing very amateurish, and the plot was a bit predictable. The Twilight Series by Steph e nie Meyer - sparkly vampires and teen angs t really do not appeal to me. The Maze Runner Series by James Dashner - th is dystopian series has its merits, however the story seems too much like other series out there. The Winds of Wa r by Herman Wouk - this first book in the Henry series captivated me as a a kid when it was a mini-series on television. However the actual book is quite

Tuesday Talks: Living in Fictional Worlds

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons !   Tuesday Talks is an wonderful group on Goodreads that is a weekly discussion forum created by BookTubers Janie Johnson and her pal, Janelle. It is a fun and active group to be a part of.    This week's question is: What would be your favorite fictional world to live in?   This is an easy question for me to answer. I would love to live in the wizarding world of Harry Potter. I understand that I can do this anytime at Universal Studios, but to really live at Hogwarts and shop Diagon Alley would be amazing. I love the eccentric and colorful characters of the Harry Potter series. It would be a joy to shop in the various store s, especially Honeydukes. I can imagine myself working at Hogwarts, and attending the scrump tious feats of teh grand hall. This would be an amazing way to live. And to try flying on a broomstick would be exciting.    Have fun reading this week. Let me know in the com ments below what comics you ar

August Wrap and September TBR Plans

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons !   Reading Slump- definition: a point in one's li fe where reading seems to be impossible to achieve. This can lead to self-loathing, depression, and hours of BookTube videos to give one inspiration to read.   Many of my friends in t he book community have been suffering through reading slum ps this Summer. Usually Summer is a time of reading and relaxing. But apparently this is not the case for many in 2016. There seems to be a great amount of stimuli invading our brains this year. Whether it be travel planing, the election, or Pokemon hunting, reading is hard this season . This has affected me, as well. I have visited many book fairs in the past few weeks searching for inspiration. I have completed sets, found new authors, and have even found some out of print books that I have wanted. I have lovingly set them upon my shelves, and have collected reading TBR piles. But alas they sit unread.  I have read a lot of c

Book Review: Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,     Stephanie Plum is back and the forecast is calling for 100% Spooky with a chance of monkey business!   Plum Spooky is written by Janet Evanovich and is published by St. Martins Press. This "Between the Plums" novel takes place after the events of Fearless Fourteen, and s erves as the official lead-in to the Lizzie and Diesel series .   This time around Stephanie Plum is on the hunt for Martin Munch, a genius who decided to one day beat up his lab's project manager, Eugene Scanlon, and steal expensive scientific equipment. Munch decided not to divulge the whereabouts of the equipment, and Stephanie's cousin Vinnie (who posted the bond) is beside himself (as usual) with the case since Munch has disappeared. Add to this the arrival (and first appearance) of Gerw ulf Grimoire. Wulf is tall, dark, and likes to snap necks, while burning his hand imprint into his victim's flesh. Definitely not normal, ev

Tuesday Talks: Do You Unhaul Books and If So, How Often?

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,   I am catching up on my book groups.   Tuesday Talks is a group on Goodreads that is a weekly book club created by BookTubers Janie Johnson and her pal, Janelle. I always love to answer the questions posted here.   This week's question is: Tuesday Talks: Do You Unhaul Books and If So, How Often?    The art of unhauling books is something that I have not done in some time. As an adult I tend to accumulate books by the dozens. I love venturing into book fairs, thrift stores and book shops searching for that next, great read. Then I somehow make room for my latest acquisition s in my home. But when I do gather books that I do not want I do this a couple of ways: Donations to Goodwill, library book fairs, or hospitals : t his is a great way to hand down books that no longer have interest or value to you. The recipients of these books will love them just as you had prior to d o na ting them. Helping out a good cause makes

Tuesday Talks- What Are Some Things You Do Not Like About YA or Adult Books?

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons, Tuesday Talks is an wonderful group on Goodreads that is a weekly discussion forum created by BookTubers Janie Johnson and her pal, Janelle. It is a fun and active group to be a part of.   This week's question is: What are some things you do not like about YA or Adult books?   I would like to say that I do not have any bookish pet peeves when it comes to young adult or adult novels, but that would not be true . Romance - I can take this in small doses. But when a love story interrupts the main narrative, it can be distracting.  The Main Protagonist Changing - I have seen this happen many times. The author feels they wish to take their characters and put them in new situations. But the issue with this is that the character may act completely out of character. That makes me feel that the previous books I have read were for nothing. A Sequel That is Worse Than the Original - When I get excited for the next book in a series
