Top 5 Wednesday Hidden Genre Gems

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons !   Top 5 Wednesday is a Goodreads Book Club that meets weekly to answer questions presented.  Our moderators are YouTubers, Lainey (GingerReadsLainey) and Samantha (ThoughtsOnTomes). I enjoy how every week this group brings the book community together. Great fun!   This week's question asks: What are your Top 5 Hidden Gems in Your Favorite Genre?   Lately I have been finding a lot of hidden gems in many genres resulting in my reading eleven book in January alone. Here are some that I highly recommended reads that were great surprises: The Little Shop of Happy Ever After by Jenny Colgan - This wonderful find speaks volumes to the book lover all the while mixing in the beautiful Scottish countryside, a love triangle, and a touching story of one poor family's struggle through illness and despair. I loved this novel so much I bought copies for friends to read. A great, feel-good read that stuck with me weeks after I fini

Nostalgia Base- Galaxy File General Hera Syndulla

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,   General Hera Syndulla is the legendary Rebel freedom fighter, and daughter of Cham Syndulla, the founder of the Free Ryloth Movement against the Empire. There is not a battle or mission that she will not take on and accomplish. Present at many battles during the Galactic Civil War, she is best known for her affiliation with one of the Rebellion's first resistance cells, Phoenix Squadron. She is an ace pilot, marks woman unmatched, and with her trusty droid, Chopper, she has seen her share of the galaxy's fight for peace. No matter the successes she has alongside her team mates, she will always remember the sacrifice that her love, Kanan Jarrus, made so that she and their child could live.   Now, using the current canon books and various media, it is time for me to share with you what I have discovered about one of the galaxy's most famous Twi'leks. Regardless of whether you may agree or not, this anal

Book Review: Ramona the Brave by Beverly Cleary

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!    A childhood favorite is rife with nostalgia. It is a feeling of comfort that lasts throughout the years of our lives. As we face the harsh reality of being an adult, it is sometimes a great idea to set aside duty and adulting to just be a kid again. A favorite way that I have done that this year is to revisit one of my favorites series as a child, Ramona Quimby written by Beverly Cleary.   In Beezus and Ramona we saw a young Beatrice Quimby daringly brave being an older sister of a four year old. That four year old was Ramona. Imaginative, often infuriating, and absolutely adorable, little Ramona began what would be a series of children's books published from 1955 to 1999. When last I visited Klickitat street in Ramona the Pest , our pint-sized protagonist was entering kindergarten. In Ramona the Brave, she is a first grader still yearning for the easy days as a kindergartner, and not liking her new class or teacher,

Tuesday Talks: Breaking Up Your Reading Schedule

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   Tuesday Talks is an wonderful group on Goodreads that is a weekly discussion forum created by BookTubers Janie Johnson and her pal, Janelle. It is a fun and active group to be a part of.  Unfortunately this group's weekly topic, entitled Tuesaday Talks, ended in 2017. I would like to carry on this tradition by posing my own questions, as well as stepping back in time to answer those weeks that I did not from the group.      This week's question is: How Do You Break Up Your Reading Schedule?   When it comes to reading I love to plan out what I want to read. As always this is sometime futile since new books are always arriving, and life sometimes tends to take time away from reading. But a way that helps with my reading schedule is to add some fun reads into the mix. Whether they are children's storybooks, children's chapter books, or middle grade reads, they serve to break up the heaviness of your
