Beverly Cleary Classics: Ramona Quimby

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,   Ramona Quimby is a part of my childhood that I loved. Her crazy antics fueled my imagination and filled my little body with laughs. After decades of giving joy to children worldwide, Beverly Cleary left this Earth in 2021 at the age of 104. No other children's author has left an impact on me as large as Beverly Cleary.    Here are a few books I have reviewed. Click on each book to find out what antics Ramona Quimby is up to.                 Let me know in the comments below what you are reading.     If you wish to donate to my publishing fund at Venmo. Childhood Favorites: Ramona the Brave by Beverly Cleary

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,      Ramona Quimby began what would be a series of children's books published from 1955 to 1999. When last I visited Klickitat Street in  Ramona the Pest , our pint-sized protagonist was entering kindergarten. In Ramona the Brave, she is a first grader still yearning for the easy days as a kindergartner. She is facing many changes at home and in school, and at six years old, Ramona is struggling with being older.   Beverly Cleary's Ramona the Brave was written in 1975 and is currently published by HarperCollins. It is once again presented with the whimsical artist work of illustrator, Tracy Dockray. In Ramona the Brave, Mr. and Mrs. Quimby announce that the girls will have their own rooms as soon as an addition to the house is finished. Of course, Ramona wishes to tell her whole class that a hole was chopped out of her house, but this does not go so well for her.   But true to its title Ramona...

Childhood Favorites: Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,       Ramona the Pest was originally published thirteen years after Beezus and Ramona in 1968. It is currently published by HarperCollins. Ramona the Pest shifts the narrative to Ramona, who is entering kindergarten. With many fears, some excitement, and the knowledge that she will make new friends, Ramona sets off for school. But being five has problems, especially when you misunderstand what an adult says to you. On day one of kindergarten Ramona manages to not quite get what her teacher, Miss Binney, is saying to her, and ends up believing that she will receive a gift if she stays in her chair. But the comedy of errors and misunderstandings does not end there. From arguments over the ribbon, not attending school because a substitute has filled in for Miss Binney, boinging a little girl's curls, and getting stuck in the mud with her new, red boots, ...

Childhood Favorites: Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Cleary

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,     Reading a story to a child can be one of the best things that an adult can do. To see their happiness as you make their favorite story come to life is a joy to see. And when you are that child that is being read to you tend to hold onto those memories. And when you are an adult facing adult things, it is sometimes wise to shed your grown-up self and just be a kid again.         Beezus and Ramona is written by Beverly Cleary and is published by Harper Collins.  This children's classic was first published in 1955, spawning a series of equally hilarious sequels. It tells the story of 9-year-old Beatrice "Beezus" Quimby, and her daily struggles looking after her mischievous four-year-old sister, Ramona. First appearing in 1952's Henry and Beezus, Beatrice Quimby was introduced as Henry Huggins' neighbor. Her story was so well received that she went on to star in many more of Cleary's books. ...
