My Book Blog 10 Year Anniversary- Favorite Audiobook Narrators

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,

I decided to share my reading and writing journey ten years ago this November. Reaching millions of readers a year, this labor of love has brought me great joy. I also love to see how my writing has improved over the years.

Audiobooks have been a driving force in my enjoyment of reading. Some narrators make the book boring and monotone. Then there is a group of narrators that go above and beyond their job. They not only narrate a book, they become the characters they read.

Here are five of my favorite Audiobook narrators in no particular order:

  1. Kate Mulgrew- best known as Captain Kathryn Janeway of Star Trek: Voyager, this amazing actress is also a book narrator. Her work reading Joe Hill's NOS4A2 was very entertaining. She used her award-winning acting to present a chilling atmosphere that took this story. I loved every minute of this 19-hour reading.
  2. Lorelei King- Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum is one of those book characters you cannot help but love. Her zany exploits as a bounty hunter have fans laughing year after year. Lorelei King came on board to read book five of the series. After years as a fan favorite, King has been tasked with narrating books one through four, and the latest installments. She can make you think more than one person is reading the books she works on. Her acting is excellent in every Plum book. Prepare to laugh out loud.
  3. Will Patton- this seasoned actor has been seen in many award-winning films. His work narrating books includes many Stephen King novels. His work on King's Doctor Sleep was one of my favorite readings. He has a cool and calm voice that conveys the narrative easily and can be scary when needed.
  4. Kirsten Potter- Lisa Gardner's Detective D.D. Warren series has been read by Potter since book three. I always love any book read by Potter. She has a knack for reading multiple characters flawlessly, and I love her delivery of more intense scenes. She can also be heard on the Bones series by Kathy Reichs.
  5. Elisabeth Rodgers- Dean Koontz's Jane Hawk series is an intense ride filled with unique characters and non-stop adventure. Elisabeth Rodgers read all five novels and the short story. As each book continued the series, Rodgers became Jane Hawk and her delivery of the narrative felt like a true-crime story told by a real FBI agent. I will look for more novels read by her.
