Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,
I decided to share my reading and writing journey ten years ago this November. Reaching millions of readers a year, this labor of love has brought me great joy. I also love to see how my writing has improved over the years.
I loved and appreciated my Scholastic Book Fairs when I was in elementary school. They instilled a sense of excitement in my school, and visiting the Book Fair was an event for all of us.
I am happy to know that after all these years I can still get excited about the Scholastic Book Fair. But as an adult, it was the Scholastic Warehouse Sale that had me excited every year. The Scholastic Warehouse Sale in Danbury, Connecticut was my go-to sale for many years. But sadly, Scholastic left the area.
I perused thousands of square feet of books. The event was filled with eager book readers, teachers, book professionals, and, thankfully, young children.
It was always filled with eager expressions, happy children, and a courteous staff that was extremely helpful. The children present at the sales were as excited as I was forty years ago at my book fairs. They ran to their parents, brandishing stacks of books, talking about how excited they were to read them. In the aisles were piled new releases, discounted paperbacks, and rows of hardcover books as low as $3.50.
Thankfully shopping carts were provided by Scholastic for their events since our book piles were getting high. There was also coffee, restrooms, and places to sit along the route of the sale. The register area was well organized, with line captains. I had a wonderful time at the sales and received excellent customer service.
I encourage you to visit the Scholastic Books website to find a warehouse sale near you or to volunteer at your school's book fair.
Scholastic Book Fair memories. It was a time when I could fill my TBRs and complete collections. It may be gone from my area, but I still have the memories.
