Retro Tuesday Talks: Hardback or Paperback?

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!

Tuesday Talks is an wonderful group on Goodreads that is a weekly discussion forum created by BookTubers Janie Johnson and her pal, Janelle. It is a fun and active group to be a part of.

Unfortunately this group's weekly topic ended in 2017. I would like to carry on this tradition by stepping back in time to answer those weeks that I did not.

This week's retro-question is from 2014:  Hardback or paperback? And why?

I will always prefer hardcover novels to paperback ones mainly because the font is larger. True, paperbacks are smaller and lighter to carry, but I tend to want to read books when they are first released. I can get hardcovers at very inexpensive prices. And at times that price can be lower than a paperback. Softcover books are being released in a larger paperback format at about $10 less than a hardcover's SRP. Paying $17.99 for a larger paperback is actually more expensive than the $14.99 hardcover. Getting inexpensive books is always easy to do with retailers such as Barnes and Noble and Target offering percentages off new releases. To pay nearly $20 for a paperback in larger format can be costly. There are times where I will even peruse the thrift shops looking for hardcovers, which can be as low as $2.

Hardcovers have larger fonts and can be cheaper than today's paperbacks. That is why I love hardcovers.

Have fun reading this week. Let me know in the comments below what you are reading.
