Nostalgia Base- Galaxy Files: Rey

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,

Since December 2015, the enigmatic character of Rey has captivated audiences of all ages. This strong-willed scavenger from the planet Jakku surprised Star Wars fans (and the First Order) with her Force-wielding abilities. And with her academy-level knowledge of starships and vehicles, she drove the Millenium Falcon expertly. She also built her own speeder to transport salvage to Niima Outpost to exchange for rations. She speaks fluent droid and is fairly skilled at hand-to-hand combat with her staff. As the mystery deepens as to who she really is (regardless of the Last Jedi, the speculation still continues), fans world-wide have offered their assessment of the origins of the franchise's latest dynamic lead.

Now, using the current canon books and various media, it is time for me to share with you what I have discovered about the galaxy's most mysterious Force wielder. Regardless of whether you may agree or not, this analysis is also meant to be a fun way to speculate and celebrate one of Star Wars' most heroic characters. I will revise this analysis as I read more canon material.  Speculations are denoted.

Appearances
Movies: The Force Awakens, the Last Jedi, and the Rise of Skywalker

Television: Forces of Destiny, Star Wars: Rebels (voice heard only)

Books: Before the Awakening (novel), Forces of Destiny, Rey's Survival Guide, the Force Awakens novelization, the Last Jedi novelization, Rey's Story: Force Awakens, and Rey's Story: The Last Jedi

Comics: Forces of Destiny, Star Wars Adventures, Destroyer Down, Poe Dameron, Age of Resistance: Rey #1

Real Name: Rey (no full name has been introduced). In the book Rey's Survival Guide, she found a helmet in the ship graveyard with the name Dosmit Raeh of the Tierfon Yellow Aces on it. It is my speculation that she chose the name Rey after Dosmit. Rey kept the pilot's helmet in her home inside a downed Imperial AT-AT Walker when she was living in the desert world of Jakku.

Species: Human

Affiliation: The Resistance

Birthplace: No official birthplace has been introduced. It is assumed it is Jakku.

Known Residences: Jakku

Parents: Brought into light by Kylo Ren after he and Rey were engaged in telepathic conversations, it appears that Rey's parents were junk traders who sold her off at a young age. This may be the truth as Rey knows it and that is how Ren was able to speak of it. It may be that Rey never knew her birth parents, and the parents she remembers are adoptive. Or Kylo Ren knows who she is and is lying at this time to her. In the novelization of The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren does say: "It is you." to Rey.

The Force: One with the Cosmic aspect of the Force, Rey is a powerful Force wielder with knowledge gained from telepathic links with Kylo Ren and training with Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. Rey can manipulate minds, levitate objects, and perform a host of other skills she has acquired pertaining to the Force. Once possessing the lightsaber of Anakin Skywalker, Rey became adept in her use of the weapon. But it was destroyed during a battle with Kylo Ren aboard Supreme Leader Snoke’s vessel, the Supremacy. Rey possesses the ancient texts of the Jedi Order obtained from the sacred Uneti tree on the island of Ahch-To. With the help of C-3Po, Rey began to read the volumes of Jedi teachings aboard the Millennium Falcon once the Resistance had escaped the Battle of Crait.

Skills: While living on Jakku, Rey was a scavenger by trade, gaining knowledge of the Galactic Civil War through records and wreckage from the Battle of Jakku. She is also knowledgeable about vehicles and starships, being able to fly the legendary Millennium Falcon. Her flight skills can be attributed in part to her finding a Rebellion flight simulator program in an old Zephra-series hauler in the ship graveyards (as told in the book Before the Awakening). With this, she would train in her spare time, which could be days if one of Jakku's X'us'R'iia storms raged outside her home. She is a skilled linguist, having met many species at Niima Outpost in her years on Jakku.

Weapons: Blaster, Lightsaber, and a staff she salvaged from the Jakku ship graveyard.

Battles present at: Battle at Takodana, Battle of Starkiller Base, Battle of Crait

General Leia Organa, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Finn, Maz Kanata, and BB-8.
