Nostalgia Base- Galaxy Files: Luke Skywalker

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,

Luke Skywalker, legendary Jedi Master and Rebel leader. He has surpassed his meager begins on Tatooine to become a myth that is whispered in tales across the galaxy. He is the son of the Sith Lord, Darth Vader (Anakin Skywalker), and he is the twin brother of Resistance leader, General Leia Organa. Decades of turmoil and tragedy led him into exile on the planet of Ahch-To. As the dark cloak of war once again blanketed the galaxy, Luke valiantly sacrificed his life to save the Resistance from the First Order. Now one with the Force, Luke Skywalker is not only a legend, but beacon of hope for those who oppose the First Order.

Now, using the current canon books and various media, it is time for me to share with you what I have discovered about the galaxy's most famous Jedi Master. Regardless of whether you may agree or not, this analysis is meant to be a fun way to speculate, and celebrate one of Star Wars' most heroic characters. I will revise this analysis as I read more canon material.  Speculations are denoted.

  Have fun!

Known Residences: Tatooine, Ahch-To
Parents: (Birth) Padme Amidala Naberrie and Anakin Skywalker (Adopted) Beru and Owen Lars

Skills: Luke is a Force wielder trained in the Jedi arts by Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. His Force abilities include levitation, mind control, and Force Projection, to name a few. He is a highly skilled pilot that trained as a young boy on Tatooine to fly what he could get his hands on. Luke's piloting skills made destroying the Imperial Death Star easier than any other pilot's efforts. He was able to combine his Force sensitivity, and piloting skills to detonate the flaw left in the Death Star by Galen Erso during the space station's construction. He is also an adept marksman with a blaster.

Weapons: The lightsaber in Skywalker's hands is a deadly and precise instrument. He trained with his father, Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber, which was lost on Bespin after his second duel with Darth Vader. It was on that day that he learned that the Sith Lord was his father. Soon after Luke fashioned a new lightsaber which he wielded during the Battle at the Pit of Carkoon and the Battle of Endor. After decades his father's lightsaber was returned to him by the Force wielder, Rey.

Moments in Time

The Myth and the Legend: Luke Skywalker is a legendary warrior in the Galactic Civil War. He was known for his skill as a pilot and as a Jedi Master. To some he is as mythical as the Jedi. While others like his sister, Leia, see him as a beacon of hope. Luke traversed the galaxy to find the truth behind the Jedi Order, and as he did so his own life became legend. Children all over the galaxy see him as a hero, inspiring their own lives. But in truth Luke has seen the legend of the Jedi stripped down to the basic levels, and he has realized that even a legend has its flaws. Until the rise of the Empire and Yoda's first visit to Dagobah, the Jedi lived as galactic marshals. Soon the true nature of the Force became alive in the minds of the Order, but it was too late. Order 66 was enacted and the Empire sought to destroy the Jedi and all knowledge of them. At the head of this was Luke's own father, who became the malevolent Darth Vader. But knowledge kept away from Imperial hands thrived with the help of individuals, like Jedi Librarian Jocasta Nu before her death at the hands of Vader. For centuries the Jedi wielded the Force and never truly understood its nature. Force ghosts were deemed ridiculous talk even among the Counsel of Jedi on Coruscant, until Yoda spoke of communing with Qui Gon Jin after his death. What Luke discovered is that the Force does not belong to the Jedi. It is living and Cosmic, and can be used by those who are not Jedi. He does his best to make Rey known of this in the Last Jedi. Her use of the Force is a Cosmic one and very powerful. With the basic training she glommed from Kylo Ren during their psychic link before the Battle of Starkiller Base, she had learned to study the Force on her own. But Luke's goal was not to train Rey as a Jedi, but as one with knowledge of the Force. His exile on Ahch-To seem to be a culmination of decades of research and his own ability to see how his own legend led him to be partially responsible for the creation of Kylo Ren.

The Jedi Academy- Luke began to fashion the idea to begin a Jedi Academy that would teach the galaxy's Force wielders how to harness and focus their abilities. After years of exploration and further study, he began to take on students. One student in particular was his nephew, Ben Solo. Ben possessed a raw Force ability that needed focusing, and that power began to worry Luke. As the influences of the Dark Side began to show themselves to Ben, Luke decided to end Ben's life to save the Galaxy from his burgeoning evil power. But during the attempted assassination, Luke could not bear to kill his nephew. As he lowered his lightsaber, Ben awoke from his sleep. Ben saw the laser sword and realized what Luke was attempting to do. He collapsed his quarters around the Jedi Master, leaving Luke in the rubble. When Luke regained consciousness and freed himself from the debris, he saw his academy in flames and many of his students dead. Ben became Kylo Ren, taking a handful of students with him (which are speculated to be the Knights of Ren). The failure was too much for the Luke, and he left for Ahch-To, said to hold the relics of the beginnings of the Jedi Order.
