Tuesday Talks- Books That You Would Gift to Someone

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!

Tuesday Talks is an wonderful group on Goodreads that is a weekly discussion forum created by BookTubers Janie Johnson and her pal, Janelle. It is a fun and active group to be a part of.

   This week's question is:
Gift of Love, which of your favorite books would you gift to someone?

This is a great question for this time of year. It is always a wonderful idea to gift books to those you love. I am fortunate to be friends with a lot of people who love to read. This makes book giving easier. No one likes to gift an unwanted book. Here are some books that I highly recommend for gift giving.

  1. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton- this book has been a staple of coming of age for many decades. I have read it four times, and each time is like the first. The novel tells the story of Ponyboy Curtis and his family's struggle fitting into society. This story introduces a cast of characters that you will never forget. Recently Penguin Books released a 5oth Anniversary hardcover edition. It includes behind the scenes material  celebrating this groundbreaking novel. This is one book that needs to be in everyone's personal library.
  2. The Shining Duology by Stephen King- The Shining and Doctor Sleep tell the story of the Torrance family and their battle against agents of darkness. From demonic entities to sinister hotels to psychic vampires, terror is always following the Torrances. Both novels are extremely compelling and tackle issues such as domestic abuse and alcohol abuse. They are two of the scariest books that I have ever read.
  3.  The Witch's Boy by Kelly Barnhill- This enchanting tale of magic tells the story of two children and their exciting adventure in a magical realm filled with witches, enchanted woods, and some of the best villains I have seen in a book. A complete joy to read.
  4.  Orhan's Inheritance by Aline Ohanesian- This amazing story of one family's struggle through horrific odds from early 1900s to present. The characters are portrayed in a real and visceral way. I shared all of their pain and hope. It is filled with beauty a narrative by first-time author, Ohanesian. I loved this book so much that it was my favorite read of 2015.
  5. Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson- This historical fiction novel is set during the Gold Rush of the late 1800s. It tells the story of Leah Westfall and her journey across country to California. Blessed with magical powers to sense gold in the Earth, she and her family have lived a "lucky" life. But after her parents are murdered, she must flee her home before her parent's killer finds her. Posing as a boy, she joins a wagon train that will take her to California where a new gold rush has begun. The journey is one of discovery and incredible determination.

Sharing books we love with those we love is a great way to celebrate teh season and friendship.

Have fun reading this week. Let me know in the comments below what you are reading.
