Tuesday Trilogies & Series: Oak Knoll, Book Two: Secrets to the Grave by Tami Hoag

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,    Oak Knoll is a place with secrets so horrific that Tami Hoag decided to write a trilogy. And with book one closed, I head back to the 1980s and the sleepy city in Secrets to the Grave.     Secrets to the Grave is written by Tami Hoag, and it is published by Penguin Random House under their Signet Books imprint.  It is the year 1986 and one year has passed since Anne Navarre was abducted by the See-No-Evil killer. After surviving her ordeal she is now married to former FBI agent Vince Leone and has since quit her teaching job to work with the state as a child advocate. Her first charge is Dennis Farman, currently in a state mental facility after attempting to murder his classmates the year prior. With the trial of the See-No-Evil killer about to begin and dealing with Dennis, Anne is filled with nightmares every evening she sleeps. But she forges on with the hope that her post-traumatic stress does not impede h...

My Writing Playlist

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,    When I began writing my debut novel in 2019, I played a lot of music. Most of the music was in the background, but a few stuck with me and my characters. I created a playlist and utilized it while editing my latest draft.    I have re-created that list on Spotify for everyone to listen to. Click on the musical notes below to start listening.      Let me know in the comments below what you are reading.         Also please follow me on my  social media platforms  and enjoy shopping with me at eBay and Mercari.      SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS AT LINKTREE     Because there is always time to read,   Xepherus3   All written content (c) Copyright 2023 by Thomas Bahr II Top logo designed by Xepherus Studios The book cover is Copyright by the publisher I claim no rights to the musical notes design

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,    When I first read Daisy Jones and the Six, I left it feeling like I had read the best novel in many years. I went on to re-read it and found that my love for this book grew. When I heard that Amazon was adapting this novel into a weekly series, I was beyond excited.    Recently the ad campaign began for the series with not only the trailer but the first song off the full album for the series: Regret Me (click on the album cover for the YouTube video).       Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,    January was a promising month for reading. I managed to enjoy two novels while working and writing my own novel. Book Review Rewind: Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,     Taking a walk along the beach, past old homes and busy tourists pleasantly ushers in a time of tranquility and excitement. Summer means a lot to many people, especially during the cold Winter months. In the tidal village of Mount Polbearne, life is about to get a bit crazy for Polly Waterford and her fellow townsfolk.     Summer at Little Beach Street Bakery is written by Jenny Colgan and reunites all of her fan-favorite characters from Little Beach Street Bakery. It is released by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, and is the second book in her popular trilogy. In it, we see Mount Polbearne has once again become a tourist destination. Polly and her, boyfriend, Huckle, have settled into their lives as lighthouse owners. Neil the Puffin is still as adorable as ever. And Kerensa and Reuben are in wedded bliss. But when old Mrs. Manse passes away, her relatives descend upon the two...

Sunday Suspense: The Survivor's Club by Lisa Gardner

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,    D iscovering past novels from Lisa Gardner I have yet to experience can be just as exciting as any new book. Enter 2002 and Gardner's stand-alone, The Survivor's Club. Detective Roan Griffin was introduced to me in Gardner's thriller,  Catch Me. He played a minor role, but from what I gathered after reading his part, I knew I wanted more of this dynamic character.      The Survivor's Club is written by Lisa Gardner and it is published by Bantam Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House. In this suspenseful tale, we are introduced to Detective Sergeant Roan Griffin. Losing his wife to cancer and breaking down after his apprehension of the child killer, The Candyman, Griffin is a damaged man. He has spent some time off the force and has slowly regained his sanity and health. He is thrust into a new case on his first day back, as a convicted rapist, Eddie Como, is assassinated on the day of his trial. The w...

Book Review Rewind: Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,     To say that I loved the Little Shop of Happy Ever After would be an understatement. Jenny Colgan's tale of a book lover moving to Scotland to sell books out of a traveling van was filled with inspiration and left me joyous at the end. To break up my Thriller-heavy reading schedule, I decided to revisit this delightful author.   The Little Beach Street Bakery is book one in a trilogy of books written by Jenny Colgan. It is released by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. When Polly Waterford's relationship and business both end, she is left with the harsh reality that she is single again. She needs a job. She needs a place to live. And most of all she needs to bake, a stress-relieving hobby of hers. But Polly is forced to engage her finances head-on, and realize that she cannot afford much until she and her ex, Chris, sell their ...

My Favorite Re-Read Books: The Exorcist- 40th Anniversary Edition by William Peter Blatty

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,     Many readers love a book so much that a re-read can enhance the book's story. For me, that includes Harry Potter, the Outsiders, and The Exorcist. Picking up a book that you have already enjoyed and diving in again can be a puzzle to some. Why on Earth would someone read a book again? I do this because of nostalgia and often I wish to see how a book holds up as I get older. And what better way to celebrate the spooky time of the year than with a scary read.      The Exorcist is written by William Peter Blatty and is published by Harper Publishing. It tells the story of young Regan MacNeil, an eleven-year-old girl seemingly as ordinary as any girl her age. Artistic, cheerful, and still sleeping with stuffed animals, Regan (or Rags, as her mother Chris calls her) looks as if she could do no harm to anyone. Her mother is a movie star filming her latest picture on location in Georgetown in Washingt...
