Book Review Rewind The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!

Christmas has always been a fun and magical time for me.  It is impossible not to be happy at that time of year. When I decided to find a cozy Christmas read and I chose this novel due to high recommendations and the name Sarah Morgan. When hundreds of bibliophiles write positive reviews of one book en masse, how can you ignore it?

The Christmas Sisters is written by Sarah Morgan. It is published by HQN Books, an imprint of HarperCollins. In it, we are introduced to tragedy, as three orphan girls are taken in by their mother's best friend, Suzanne, and her husband, Stewart. After years of growing up in Glensay, in the Scottish Highlands, the girls are now women. Two live in the United States and one has stayed on to help with their adopted mother's business.

Posy McBride is not happy staying in Glensay. She knows that she will inherit her mother's cafe and the property eventually. But the thought of living the rest of her days in her childhood home fills her with trepidation. And she is attracted to her parent's new tenant, an American who tells her of mountains and beautiful locations in his country. Posy wonders if, she too, would want to travel America. Meanwhile, her sister Beth is married and living in New York City with her husband, Jason. Seemingly happy with two young girls, Beth puts on a daily mask that hides her desire to go back to work in the beauty industry. But her husband has already accepted a promotion without telling her. And he is looking to have a third child, which Beth is not agreeing on. When she receives a call from her old boss asking her to return to work in public relations, Beth agrees to meet with her. A few miles away Hannah McBride is dodging the inevitable by not buying a pregnancy test. Successful and answering to no one, Hannah is now in a position that she tries desperately to push aside. The object of one man's desire, she is feeling pressured. Her panic attacks are not helping either.

When the stress of life gets under their skin, Hannah and Beth flee their lives in the U.S. and return home early for Christmas. But what will happen when they are faced with the truth about what all three want for their own lives? Can Hannah be a mother? Will Jason take Beth's leaving early as a sign of divorce? Can Posy keep her hands off new tenant Luke and decide where she wants to live? A Christmas in the Scottish Highlands may be what the Sisters McBride needs to sort out their lives.

The Christmas Sisters was a cozy and feel-good book that had me smiling from ear to ear. It was often laugh-out-loud funny and wrapped its story around me like a warm winter blanket. With each revelation. With each truth accepted. I was hooked on the story of the McBride family. I tried to sneak in chapters during my own Christmas preparations and may have burned a few cookies in the process.  I could not get enough of this wonderful book. Morgan's writing style is very smooth and flowed effortlessly. I was invested in the lives of all the characters and looked forward to each of their chapters. If Sarah Morgan writes books like this all the time, I will be reading more of her novels. But I do hope that she writes another McBride Sisters book. I hated to close the book after it ended.

I read the Christmas Sisters in part with the narration of actress, Mandy Weston. She was like a theater of people presenting this story. From accents to voices of children, Weston made me feel as if more than one person had read Morgan's book. Brilliant work!

Sarah Morgan has become a new favorite of mine. This five-star read made the Christmas Sisters not only my last book read of the year (so far, there are still a few days left), but one of the best. If you like a cozy story that warms you from within, then this is the perfect winter read for you.
