Top 5 Wednesday: Books You Wish Had Sequels

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!

I have been away for a while from this group, but I am back and ready to join in on the fun!

Top 5 Wednesday is a Goodreads Book Club that meets weekly to answer questions presented.  Our moderators are YouTubers, Lainey (GingerReadsLainey) and Samantha (ThoughtsOnTomes). I enjoy how every week this group brings the book community together.

This week we are asked to list our Top 5 list of books that we wish had a sequel. This can be a stand alone or a book that you wish was not the last in the series. I based my answers on novels that I either read recently or were the last in the a series recently released.

  1. Star Wars: Lost Stars by Claudia Gray- this novel dove head-on into the original trilogy, giving us a new perspective of the Galactic Civil War. We were introduced to Imperial officers, Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell, and their heart breaking love story. Thane leaves the Empire to join the Rebellion, and Ciena stays, believing that the Empire is doing some good. Through the destruction of the Death Stars and the Battles of Hoth, Endor, and Jakku, we follow these amazing characters as they try to remain together. Claudia Gray handled the history of Star Wars in an amazing way. I often wonder what happened to Ciena and Thane after the Battle of Jakku. I would love to see a sequel featuring these two characters.
  2. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton- Who did not read this novel while in high school? It was mandatory reading in my school system, and I am happy it was. The story of Ponyboy Curtis and war between the Socs and the Greasers is a story just as must relevant today as it was when the book was released. It is a story of acceptance, friendship, and overall love for your family. I would love to see this book continue on in a sequel set in today's troubling world. I am sure Ponyboy would feel that many people of the world are currently repeating history, instead of trying to change it. Never has a book stuck with me as long as the Outsiders has. A classic.
  3. The Santangelos by Jackie Collins- In 2015 Jackie Collins succumbed to breast cancer with true dignity and class. She worked hard to deliver two more amazing Lucky Santangelo books during her illness. Jackie has been with me as an author since my senior year in high school. She has taught me strength, courage, and not to take crap from anyone. A true fighter herself, her Lucky Santangelo is a testament to how much strength a person can have during overwhelming odds. I purchased Jackie's last book, the Santangelos, last year. I have yet to read it due to the fact that once its over the loss of Jackie Collins will be more tangible. I hope she had more stories to tell, because a world without a Jackie Collins novel is a sad world indeed.
  4. Wicked Charms by Janet Evanovich and Phoeff Sutton- Okay, I know that we were promised seven books in the Lizzie and Diesel series, but I am impatient. I absolutely fell in love with the Wicked series. What is not to love? Two magical characters tracking down seven stones that possess the powers of the Seven Deadly Sins. They encounter dangerous magical beings, Blessed Wannabe Witches, and ins and outs of living in a tourist destination, such as Salem, Massachusetts. Each book in the series has been exciting, hilarious, and bit naughty. I am hoping that Wicked Charms was not the last book in this awesome series.
  5.   The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty- The possession of Regan MacNeil was one of the most astounding reads of the 1970s. It sparked a phenomenon that led to the release of the film, dubbed "the Scariest Movie of All Time" up until that date. The story of Lieutenant William Kinderman was continued in the novel, Legion. But a lot of what made the Exorcist so amazing was lacking in its sequel novel. I want to know more of what happened after the first novel. How did Chris MacNeil stay relevant in the ever-changing movie industry. What did Regan go on to be? Was she possessed again? Was her child or children possessed? I would have loved to have a direct sequel will all of the characters present.

There you are, my Top 5 for this Wednesday.
