2018 Reading Resolutions- Ten Months Later

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   The year of 2018 is almost over. At the beginning of the year I listed some Reading Resolutions for this year. Now I look back and share with all of you how well I have done ten months later.    Here are my Top Five Reading Resolutions and their results thus far: 1.     Visit my local libraries more often- I have visited my local libraries quite a lot this year. I have also linked up with my libraries through digital library services. I have donated books and have attended book fairs hosted by my local libraries. 2.   Visit thrift stores for my books- This was not a hard thing to accomplish, since I have friends and family that love thrifting. I have picked up some awesome books and have had a great time reading those finds. 3.   Donate books to charity that I do not plan to read- I have donated hundreds of books to charities and have handed off books to friends to read. I hav...

My Favorite Spooky Settings

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons !   My fav orite time of year is Autum n, especially Hal loween. I read spooky books and have fun watching scary movie s . But what makes a scary book perfect? I decided to share with all of you my favorite spooky setting. Feel free to share your favorite spooky places that you like to read about.   Here are five of my favorite Spooky Settings in Books: O ld , Abandoned Homes or Empty Hotels - This worked very well in several books that I have read in the past, such as the House with the Clock in Its Walls by John Bellairs and 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King . The most effective one being the Overlook Hotel from Stephen King's the Shining. Large , filled with endless rooms, and a guest list of ghosts, this was the perfect backdrop for that classic horror scare. Swamps or Murky Mors- This brings me back to the Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A creepy, atmospheric realm whe re mists blank...

Book Review: The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown- Illustrated Edition

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   The event that I have arrived to late is the Dan Brown Party. After seeing friends and family constantly recommend and talk about the Robert Langdon books for over ten years, I have finally began this globe-trotting series. Angels and Demons was a five star read for me. And almost immediately after reading book one, I had to read book two.   The Da Vinci Code is written by Dan Brown and this illustrated edition is published by Doubleday Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House. The Da Vinci Code catches up with Harvard Professor Robert Langdon one year after the Earth-shattering events of Angels and Demons. Langdon remains in the spotlight after his involvement in the prior year's Vatican City crisis. In Paris, France for a well-publicized lecture event, Robert is awoken from sleep by the arrival of police. Bezu Fache, a French police captain, wishes Langdon's presence at the Louvre museum. Robert has a m...

2018 Spooky Book Tag

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   It is that time of year again, Spooky Book Tag! This is a fun way to interact with the book community to see what everyone is reading. Have fun and feel free to tag someon e. Reviews for the books mentioned are highlighted with their link.   1. Corn Maze (what book had you confused and lost from the very beginning?) Forget Her Name by Jane Holland . The story seemed all over the map and fractured several times. This thriller ended with an epilogue that did not seem to fit with the overall story. From mystery to thriller to weird love story, this book had me lost a lot. 2. Haunted House (what book has the creepiest setting?) The Death of Mrs.Westaway by Ruth Ware had a very creepy setting in Trepassen House. The old family estate of the Westaways was filled with shadows and dangers that made for one spooky read.   3. Ghost Boyfriend or Girlfriend (who is your eternal book soulmate?) Vince Leo...
