Book Review: Goosebumps- The Haunted Mask by R.L. Stine

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   For the spooky Halloween season, nothing gets me in the mood for ghosts and goblins quite like Goosebumps. R.L. Stine's fun and scary stories transcend age and have captivated millions of readers. Last year I read the Scarecrow Walks at Midnight and absolutely loved it. This year I am reading a few Goosebumps for the season and Spookathon.   The Haunted Mask is written by R.L. Stine and is published by Scholastic Books. Released for the first time in 1993, this eerie tale of Halloween hijinx introduces us to Carly Beth Caldwell. She is small of stature and the brunt of many jokes from her peers. After eating a worm at school after she is pranked, Carly is fed up. Even at home, her annoying little brother is constantly a thorn in her side. She feels that things need to change. Her best friend, Sabrina, does her best to help Carly Beth out with bullies Chuck and Steve. But the situation is not letting up, esp...

September Wrap-Up and October TBR

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!         September was a month filled with comic books and event series. I enjoyed a few canon Star Wars comic books, as well as the House and Powers of X event, both from Marvel Comics. I enjoyed Rith Ware's latest thriller. And I plotted my End of Year TBR to wrap up my 2019 Reading Challenge .     I hope that October will be as great a reading month as September was. I look forward to showing you my Spookathon reading TBR.   Also, my update for my 5 Star Reads skips a month this time around, as I reformat my list to reflect novels that I have read instead. Comics will be judged at some point if that is what my readers would like. Comment below if that would be a list you would like to see.       Here are the books I read in September (in alphabetical order. Any reviews are highlighted): 1. Goosebumps: The H...

The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!    Ruth Ware has been a favorite author of mine ever since I read all her novels last year. Her brand of descriptive writing and tense-filled narratives left me anxious to read her latest novel. The Woman in Cabin 10 , the Death of Mrs. Westaway , In a Dark, Dark Wood , and the Lying Game all captured my imagination and left me highly entertained.   I could not have imagined that I would be left as exhausted and shocked as I was with Ware's latest.    Turn of the Key is Ruth Ware's fifth thriller. It is published by Scout Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, Inc. In this latest tale of secrets and murder, we are introduced to Rowan Caine. She is a "super nanny" with an impressive resume of private childcare. She is currently employed at Little Nippers Day Care and yearns to leave her daily grind of dirty diapers; all supervised by a boss she cannot stand. She decides to leave her job and ...
