Top 5 Wednesday- Most Intimidating Books

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!

Top 5 Wednesday is a Goodreads Book Club that meets weekly to answer questions presented.  Our moderators are YouTubers, Lainey (GingerReadsLainey) and Samantha (ThoughtsOnTomes). I enjoy how every week this group brings the book community together. Great fun!

This week's question asks: What are your Top 5 Most Intimidating Books? (I chose books with large page numbers, since lately my page limit has been under five hundred.)

1.    The Count of Monte Christie by Alexandre Dumas- this huge book has crossed paths with my To Be Read list many times over the past couple of decades. The more I pick it up, the more I feel that a book of this size may be too much to handle. My book reading lately has been limited to five hundred pages.
2.  Les Miserables by Victor Hugo-  with over fourteen hundred pages, this monster of a book has been walked to the counter of Barnes and Noble many times. With their special edition binding, I always feel that I can read it. Fast forward a few editions later, and it is still on the shelf at the book store.
3.  The Game of Thrones Series by George R.R. Martin- this series seems to grow bigger and bigger in page numbers with every release. With page numbers ranging in the mid-thousands, this epic series has me wondering if I am up to the challenge. With teh latest release, I believe it is time to start this series.
4.  The Winds of War Series by Herman Wouk- set in the World War II era, this series of books range from eight hundred to over a thousand pages. This may me a series I will tackle soon, since I remembering being glued to the television for the ABC mini-series of the eighties. Plus I love World War II-era stories.
5.  The North and South Series by John Jakes- this series of novels is set during the Civil War-era. My mother read two of the books, and had tried to get me as a teenager to read them. To this day I have yet to delve into the books, as they are well over eight hundred pages in length a piece .

There you have it, my Top 5 Wednesday Most Intimidating Reads. I look forward to seeing everyone's answers.
