DNF Books Revisited: Will I Continue?

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,

Occasionally, I start a book and do not finished it. There are varying reasons why. One of my notorious DNF books was Whispering Shadows by Jan-Phillip Sendker. It started it twice and left it for another three years. In the end, I gave it four stars, wondering why I did not finish it in the first place.

This year I repurchased one DNF, and added several more. As the list got bigger, I decided to challenge myself.

What if I made a list in July and revisited it in December to track my progress?

I am curious to see if the following books will be finished.

DNF List Stats

  1. Murder Road by Simone St. James (started April 2024/ DNF'd May 2024/repurchased when I found it 60% off at a sale/ original reason: lost interest. But I did like what I read.)
  2. The Butcher and the Wren by Alaina Urquhart (started August 2025/ DNF'd September 2025/ reason: distraction. I was attending a convention.)
  3. Game Changer by Rachel Reid (started  January 2026/DNF February 2026/ reason: lost interest)
  4. Holly by Stephen King (started February 2026/ DNF'd February 2026/ reason: subject matter)
  5. The Sentinel by Jeffrey Konvitz (started May 2026/ DNF'd May 2026/ reason: too similar to other books I have read.)
  6. The Last One by Riley Sager (started May 2026/ DNF'd June 2026/ reason: a new release caught my attention. But I liked what I read.)

There you have it. My DNF'd books list and my challenge.

Let me know in the comments below what DNF books have you finished?
