Thriller Review: Other People's Houses (DC Morgan #3) by Clare Mackintosh

Other People's Houses is written by Clare Mackintosh. It is book three in the DC Morgan series published by Sourcebooks. In it Ffion Morgan is balancing a mischievous dog, an uncertain relationship with her realtor, and her relationship with Detective Sergeant Leo Brady. Ffion is investigating the murder of a young realtor. Leo is investigating a series of burglaries in an affluent neighborhood. And the world seems to be addicted to solving a ten year old cold case thanks to a true crime podcast.

But when a burglary turns violent, a killer may have resurfaced in the wealthy neighborhood of the Hills. As their cases begin to connect, Ffion and Leo come face to face with a murderer determined to keep his or her identity a secret. Unfortunately for Leo, his ex-wife, Allie, lives down the road from the Hills. She is nosy and determined to fit in with the "in crowd". Will she be a help or a hinderance?

Other People's Houses is a juicy thriller packed with the ultra-rich and the ultra desperate. No one living in the Hills can safely be eliminated from the suspect list. Each has a reason to commit murder. As the book progressed, the chapters moved swiftly forward. I read into the night and was shocked and thrilled with the finale.

I read Other People's Houses in part with the narration of Chloe Angharad Davies, Joe Eyre, and Penelope Rawlins. Davies read the novel, while Eyre and Rawlins handled the podcast elements of the story. The trio delivered a cast reading that made this book fun and exciting.

Other People's Houses was a five-star read for me. I could not put this down and finished it within a day's period. It is a fantastic third book in the series. If you are looking for a suspenseful beach read that keeps you hooked, this novel is for you.
