My 2021 Reading Goals

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!

2021 for me is a way to return to normality, such as it was. I am determined to read more. I am determined to set goals. I am determined to keep myself accountable. In June of the year, I will revisit this list and see just how well I did. Taking some of last year's failed attempts and adding some 2021 good juju, I am ready to set my goals list.

2021 Bookish Reading Goals

  1. Tab all books that I read with removable flags: This has been a proven success and I do not plan on stopping it.
  2. Alphabetize To Be Read pile: I have TBR piles everywhere. But this year I am going to create a special pile of books that I must get to in 2021. I often lose a book in the vast outer regions of my office. This will give me a fighting chance to keep focused on the books I want to read first. With a twist…alphabetized by author.
  3. Sell off books that I no longer want: This will be done on my eBay Store. I will also have a thrifty section for books under $5. This is a great way to meet new customers and give my book babies a new home. I will also have a new sale starting every Wednesday.
  4. Read more contemporary: This has often saved me during a reading slump. But lately, I have been loving a nice quiet read with some family drama and romance. Sarah Morgan’s A Wedding in December was a great way to begin in 2021.
  5. Take a break from reading: This may sound odd, but I find that taking a couple of days off from reading a week reduces "Book Burnout". I often read a lot of crime novels, and there is so much death and criminal activity one can take a week. Color, watch television, go for a walk, whatever relaxes you. Remember reading should not feel like a job.
  6. Change out genres: As I previously mentioned I read a lot of crime and horror fiction. And after those tales, I need something lighter. I love reading books that are warm and fuzzy between the decapitations and hauntings. I find that a children's chapter book, a middle-grade fantasy, or light contemporary novels help me not overload on literary horrors.
  7. Finally read some of the comics I keep buying: I buy comics weekly and love collecting them. But in 2021 I am going to gather up many of the story arcs that I have been wanting to read. It is so easy to collect and not read. That will end this year. I plan to create a master list of comics that I have wanted to read and check them off as I do.

Have fun reading this year. Let me know in the comments below what you are reading this week.
