   The Wilds is the third book in the Detective Elin Warner Series. It is written by Sarah Pearse and is published by Penguin Random House.

   Elin Warner survived The Sanitorium and The Retreat with cracked ribs and a new outlook on life. She reconnected with her brother, Isaac, and she has managed a getaway to Portugal for some R&R. In the past, Kier, has found love with celebrity chef, Zeph. He is charismatic and whisks her off her feet. But when she heads to Devon for her brother's wedding, she is introduced to Zeph's dark side. 

  She begins to investigate her new beau only to find past bad break up, where Zeph stalked and terrified his ex. As Kier and Elin's stories converge in Portugal, a killer may be on the loose. Kier has disappeared in the same vacation spot Warner has chosen. Can Elin and her brother find out what happened to Kier before a killer finds them?

   The Wilds was a day read for me. I was emersed in the stories of Kier and Elin. Pearse gives us excellent character development, with a study on grief and dealing with abuse. Family secrets rip through this novel like a tornado. No one was safe from being a suspect and when the twists began to arrive, I was not prepared for them. It all lead to a nail-biter finale that drove the suspense level to a 100.

    I read this novel in part with the returning narration of Elizabeth Knowelden. As with the first two installments, her performance is one of my favorite readings of a thriller. She continues to show an amazing character range. 

    Five stars later, Sarah Pearse has delivered a thriller that had me reading into the morning hours. I loved how she tied up storylines and connected all three of her thrillers. One of my favorites of the year.

Reading Habits: Book/ Audiobook Combination

  Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,     I have been speaking with other readers about how they read. For some, they only read an e-book. For others an audio book on the way to work saves them time. But then there are readers like myself that take it a few steps further. I utilize many forms of reading when taking on a book. With my Goodreads and Xepherus Reads reading challenge s underway, I have found some great ways to keep on reading.   AUDIOBOOK/ BOOK COMBINATION-  I have trouble with reading from time to time. I will begin a paragraph, but then I veer off track and lose my place. This can sometimes keep me reading a page over and over. Therefore I use an audio book in conjunction with my physical book, so that I can read along with the words as the narrator presents the material. This is most helpful while reading my Kindle, which when paired up with audio book through their Whis...

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,    April is seeing A lot of research and editing for my  debut novel . Of course, this is great news that I am nearing the end of finishing my book. But with all of this nonfiction reading, I have moved away from fiction.
