Friday Funnies: The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,        The Princess Diarist is written by Carrie Fisher based on diaries that she had created while she was filming Star Wars Episode IV in the late 1970s. It is published by Blue Rider Press, a division of Penguin-Random House Books.    When reading a Carrie Fisher memoir there are a few things that you must do prior to beginning. A) choose a comfortable place to read, because you will be there for a while. B) have a drink handy, I chose coffee. C) always have the audiobook available to read along with. Carrie reading Carrie is a lot better than any voice your mind could come up with. Then get ready for a vivid journey through Hollywood and the mind of a brilliant woman.   The Princess Diarist is filled with often funny stories from the filming of the original Star Wars back in 1976. She takes us on a journey from dropping out of high school to touring with her mother, Debbie Reynolds...

Making a Book Soundtrack: Say Goodbye by Lisa Gardner

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,      I took an interest in the way that Rachel Caine took her books and added soundtracks to them. This part of her writing process adds an extra dimension to her stories. As I read Say Goodbye by Lisa Gardner, I wondered what songs would be included in this thriller's soundtrack.    I loved this novel and gave it five stars in my  review . Now it's time to give this thrilling novel some tunes.   Here is the soundtrack in alphabetical order: 1.      Breaking Curfew-  American Girl by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers 2.    Delilah Rose-  Criminal by Fiona Apple 3.    Mr. Dinchara-  Tattooed in Reverse by Marilyn Manson 4.    Kimberly's Theme-  Zombie by Bad Wolf (after the Cranberries) 5.    Brown Recluse/ Look Up-  Shadows and Sheets by Benjamin Wallfisch (from the film Annabelle Creation) 6.    On Blood Mounta...

Out of This World Wednesday: Star Wars- The Perfect Weapon by Delilah S. Dawson

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,       If you remember in The Force Awakens, Bazine was the woman who reported that BB-8 and his companions were at Maz Kanata's palace to the First Order. In The Perfect Weapon, we are introduced to much of her past. Bazine is a spy working for the highest payer and this time she has taken on a new assignment. When we first see Bazine, she can be found on the desert world of Chaaktil, taking care of problem customers at a bar. She soon enters into a meeting with a shadowy cloaked figure with a synthesized voice. The figure appears via a hologram message from an old protocol droid. The figure asks her to travel to an old hospital in the Outer Rim where a retired Stormtrooper, TK-1472, from the old Empire resides. With the old man is a steel case. She is to go to the hospital to find the trooper and procure the case. The hologram also adds that another faction is looking for the case, led by someone code-named Narg...

One Person Theater: Lorelei King

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,     Lorelei King-  narrating almost every Stephanie Plum book and all three Wicked series novels from Janet Evanovich, Lorelei King is the type of narrator that whisks readers away. Her voice work is hilarious at times, as she changes voices flawlessly with accents that are very believable. I have found myself listening to books read by her, and feeling surprised at how fast the time flies. She is also an actress that has appeared on several television series doing voice-over work, including Dr. Who and Bob the Builder. Her film work includes Notting Hill opposite Julia Roberts. If you see her name attached to an audiobook, then you will be in for a treat.   Visit Lorelei King on her website .      Let me know in the comments below what you are reading.     If you wish to donate to my publishing fund at Venmo. All donations are appreciated.         Also ple...

Art Therapy & Books

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,    Regarding audiobooks, we often use them in conjunction with chores, hiking, or driving long trips. But I have found that audiobooks can be expertly paired with art.   I love coloring in coloring books and painting as a relaxing way to calm my nerves, especially after a long day. Many of us have endured a lot of stress over the past few years and it is always wise to find ways to introduce relaxing projects.   I enjoyed listening to Daisy Jones & the Six while coloring on this page with alcohol markers. I can remember parts of the book with every section of this art. The book flew by and I was at the end before I knew it.  Artwork by Thomas Bahr II      Take out those coloring pages and your favorite medium and turn on an audiobook. It may be a fun way to read and create art.   Enjoy!   Let me know in the comments below what you are reading.     If you wish to d...

Saturday Thrillers: What Happens in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,       What Happens in Paradise is written by Elin Hilderbrand. It is published by Little Brown & Company, an imprint of Hatchet Book Group. In this thrilling story of mystery and romance, we return to the Virgin Islands.  Irene Steele continues to unravel the suspicious circumstances surrounding her husband, Russell's death. At the end of book one, all parties involved with Steele were contacted by the FBI. The Bureau was looking into Russell and his shady boss, Todd Croft. Irene and her family return to St. John, where they are confronted by lies, conspiracy, and possibly murder.   Irene is still wrestling with her infatuation with Huck. Her sons, Baker and Cash are still pining for waitress, Ayers. But even though these storylines continue, Hilderbrand has managed to offer this mystery further a few shocking revelations. I enjoyed how this second novel peeled back the events that lead to Russell's fateful N...
