One Person Theater: My Favorite Audiobook Narrators
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,
Let me offer you a scenario:
It's the middle of the month, and you are in the worst reading slump of your life. You have no time to physically pick up a novel and read. Then you decide that if you cannot read a book visually, why not try an audiobook? Your search is successful for the audio production of the book you wish to read and start it. But the narrator's voice annoys you. Their speaking is like nails on a chalkboard. You fear you are back to square one. What do you do?
I have been in this very situation many times. However, all narrators are not bad. Here is my list of narrators that are, in my opinion, the best at bringing a book to life. Each week I will share a favorite of mine. First up:
Marc Thompson: currently narrating several of Del Rey's Star Wars novels, including Dark Disciple, Aftermath, and A New Dawn. Thompson has a great knack for voices, and conveying character emotions to the audio presentation of the Star Wars novels he has voiced. I find his voice easy to listen to, and he can make the hardest book fun to read. He is also recognized for his voice work on the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, and Daria.
