Thriller Review- The Secret of Secrets (Robert Langdon #6) by Dan Brown

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,
There is a special feeling a book reader experiences when their favorite author releases a new novel. We cancel plans, stop TBRs, and are whisked away on a new adventure. In the case of Dan Brown's books, I have book hangovers that last several weeks (or years). This recent release is no different.
The Secret of Secrets is the latest Robert Langdon thriller by Dan Brown. It is published by Doubleday Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House.
In it, we travel to Prague as Robert Langdon
accompanies his long-time friend, Katherine Solomon (from The Lost Symbol), when she is set to speak on Noetics, as a
guest of the prominent scientist, Dr. Brigita Gessner. The event passes, and
Langdon and Solomon return to their hotel room (Katherine plans to meet with
Gessner the next day). But on the other side of Prague, in her secret lab,
Gessner is tortured and murdered by an otherworldly creature calling himself
The Golem.
Morning arrives, and Langdon finds Katherine
has vanished. Before he can search for her, he is detained by the Prague
authorities. Without the freedom needed to search for her, Langdon must think quickly
to escape. Gessner's assassin is on the loose, and Katherine may have been his
latest victim. No one can be trusted. Nothing is what it seems. And lies are
unraveling that may threaten the very city of Prague and the world.
This anxiety-inducing thrill ride kept me up
late at night. Brown's ability to twist the narrative like an ornate pretzel is
on full display here. I was certain I knew what was happening, and Brown proved
me wrong with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. The adventure filled my days with trepidation and excitement. There are many twists and turns, which culminate in a literally explosive finale.
I read The Secret of Secrets in part
with the narration of actor Paul Michael. Michael moved the story along at
a fantastic pace. He read with a sense of urgency and confidence that fits
Langdon perfectly.
This was eight years of research well spent. Brown has given us another five-star read that will have the world talking. Those fascinated with science and puzzles will love this story. Be prepared to have your computer or phone ready to search for all the fantastic locations featured in this thriller. Enjoy!
