My Favorite Thrillers: The Outsider by Stephen King

Image
Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!    As a fan of crime thrillers and horror novels, I love to sit down and enjoy a spooky tale. But when my two favorite genres collide and produce something even more exciting, I take it slow and savor the story.   The Outsider is written by Stephen King and is published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster. In this explosive thriller, we are introduced to Ralph Anderson, a detective with the Flint City police. When a child is found murdered, the prime suspect is local kids coach, Terry Maitland. Eyewitnesses put him at the scene and forensic evidence matches Maitland's own. Ralph, infuriated by the police's findings, arrests Maitland at a local ball game. But their evidence is no match for well-documented proof that Maitland was in another city at the time of the murder. Which begs the question: how can one man be in two places at the same time?   The case grows exponentially wei...

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!   Tami Hoag has written two of my favorite novels,  9th Girl  and  Cold Cold Heart . I have recommended both suspense novels to all of my readers, friends, and family. There is a certain thrill that comes from a Tami Hoag novel. Once she draws you in with her dynamic narrative, she has a hold of you for many hours. I have lost sleep, forgot appointments, and ignored phone calls when reading her works. This time was no different.    Deeper Than the Dead is the first novel in Tami Hoag’s Oak Knoll trilogy. It is published by Penguin Random House under their Dutton Books imprint. The year is 1985, criminal investigations are aided by tape recorders, fingerprint dusting, and fax machines. U nder Sheriff Cal Dixon , the small department of Oak Knoll, California, does its best to keep the peace. But it is Detective Tony Mendez that knows that the future of law enforcement is changing. His mentor, Vince Leone, is ...

My Favorite Thrillers: Say Goodbye by Lisa Gardner

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!      What makes a monster? What single most horrifying event can lead a human to be a killer? The halls of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are filled with agents who deal with this question daily. But in Special Agent Kimberly Quincy's life, the evolution leading to the birth of a monster can be a slow and torturous process.  But if she is not too careful, she may have to say goodbye to living sooner than she thought.   Say Goodbye is written by Lisa Gardner and is the sixth book in her widely popular FBI Profiler series. The edition that I read was the hardcover released in 2008 by Bantam Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House.  I was first introduced to Kimberly Quincy in the books Catch Me and Find Her. And from these cameos, I knew that I wanted to learn more about this Lisa Gardner character. In Say Goodbye  we are introduced to a pregnant Ki...

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons!       The works of Rachel Caine have kept readers happy for many years. From young adult to adult thriller, Caine has dazzled. Sadly, Rachel lost her battle with a devastating illness that she chronicled on her Twitter page. She was as brave as her heroines in her fight. And I feel that in keeping her fans on top of her own battles, she will always be remembered as a warrior. She will be missed by the literary community.   Wolfhunter River is the third novel in the Stillhouse Lake series by Rachel Caine. It is published by Thomas and Mercer Publishers, an imprint of Amazon. It has been a few months since Gwen Proctor's terrifying final showdown with her serial killer ex-husband, Melvin Royal. Royal and his psychotic followers have tormented and stalked Gwen and her children across many states. Now she is ensconced in what appears to be a quiet life in the community surrounding Stillhouse Lake in Tennessee....
