Tuesday Talks : Dear Non-Reader

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,

Tuesday Talks is an awesome group on Goodreads that is a weekly discussion forum created by BookTubers Janie Johnson and her pal, Janelle. It is a fun and active group in the book community to be a part of.

  This week's question is:
What would your Dear Non-Reader letter be?

  Here is my letter:

     Dear Non-Reader,

Sometimes life as we know it can be hard. Sometimes it can be stressful. But one thing that we all can agree upon is that we love movies. You spend hundreds of dollars yearly to see the latest blockbuster. It takes you away for a couple of hours and eases what could be a hectic or sad life. After the film you feel exhilarated and alive. You tell others what a great story it was, and that you cannot wait for a sequel.

But what you do not understand is that this awesome movie that you are raving about was originally the first book in a series of books. Instead of waiting three years for a movie studio to adapt the remaining books in the series, read the series and get your sequels early

"No, no," you say, "I don't read very well. And I have no time to keep up with a book."

Really? But you have time wait ten years for your favorite space trilogy to finish? Trust me, you have time to read.

What is a book? A book is a verbal movie where you become the director of casting and special effects. You are the reader, therefore you are the creator of what these written words convey in your mind. The possibilities are endless. And if you have trouble reading a book, try an audio book. Some audio books have a full cast of actors reading the book. Plus many have sound effects and music to set the mood. With an audio book you can sit back, close your eyes, and create a universe in your mind without worrying about keeping up by reading the words.

A book to me is comfort. I can curl up in my favorite spot with a drink and snacks. Open up to the next chapter and continue to be excited by my favorite story. It is just like what you do in a theater, only a book can be read for two hours or many hours. If you do not want the story to stop, just keep reading. No need to wait for the sequel, because it is already there for you to discover.

Open a book and you will never stop reading.
