Young Adult Review: Renegade (Silver Blackthorn #2) by Kerry Wilkinson

Hello, Fellow Book Worms and Book Dragons,

Renegade is the second book in the Silver Blackthorn Series by Kerry Wilkinson. It is published by St. Martin’s Press. Taking place minutes after the original book, Reckoning, Renegade takes us on a first-person journey of survival with Silver Blackthorn as our guide. Having survived atrocities at Windsor Castle in a futuristic, dystopian England, Silver leads several other teens to freedom.

Silver is a resourceful girl and she knows exactly what to do to get her team out of trouble. Soon, the group is hunted and she must do what has to to keep them unnoticed as they venture back home to find their families. But a dangerous enemy is a better tracker than Silver could have imagined and she is led to the center of her dystopian world only to come face-to-face with evil.

Renegade is filled with sweeping locals, amazing villains, and non-stop peril that makes this book zip along at a great pace. I loved the book’s science fiction roots that always brought technology into the mix. This is also a great book for fans of strong female heroes. It was an exciting mix that lead to an incredible cliffhanger that had me wanting more!

I read Renegade with the delightful voice of Kat-Rose Martin. Her accent gave weight to the characters and their dangerous situations. I look forward to reading more audiobooks with her voice.

I gave Renegade five out of five stars!
